Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event filled with joy, love, and cherished memories. That being said, you can’t control everything that happens during the day. To ensure that it all goes as smoothly as possible and you have no regrets, it’s crucial to plan thoughtfully and anticipate potential challenges. Here are some common bride regrets—and how to avoid them—based on my first-hand experience;
Pack an Emergency Makeup Kit
Your wedding day can be unpredictable, and a minor mishap like a loose button or a makeup smudge can cause unnecessary stress. Packing a bridal emergency kit with essentials like safety pins, stain remover, tissues, makeup touch-up products, and pain relievers can be a true lifesaver. Consider including items like extra earring backs, a sewing kit, and a small snack to keep your energy up. Having these portable but useful things on hand will ensure you’re well prepared for any unexpected situations that may arise.
Allocate enough time in the timeline for photographs and getting ready - ask your photographer!
Time flies on your wedding day, especially during the hectic preparations. Many brides regret not allocating sufficient time for getting ready photographs and spending quality moments with family and friends before the ceremony. Plan your timeline with multiple buffer periods to allow for delays and ensure a relaxed, stress-free atmosphere. This extra time also gives your photographer the opportunity to capture detail shots as well as candid moments that document the excitement and anticipation of your wedding day.
Have a PLAN B! (and make sure your photographer has a solid plan B too!)
While Aruba boasts beautiful weather year-round, it’s essential to have a contingency plan for any outdoor wedding events, just in case of unexpected rain or wind. Whether it’s securing an indoor venue as a backup or renting tents for outdoor ceremonies, having a plan B gives you the peace of mind that every bride deserves. Your wedding vendors always have our own plans in place, but it’s always best to discuss contingency options with your wedding planner and photographer so that we’re all on the same page.
Designate Someone for Keepsake Collection
Throughout your wedding day, there will be sentimental items like cards, gifts, and personal mementos that you’ll want to keep and treasure forever. I would highly recommend designating a trusted friend or family member to collect these keepsakes and store them safely until after the festivities. That way, you don’t have to stress about things getting lost or forgotten in the whirlwind of celebrations, and you’ll be able to reminisce about these heartfelt moments for years to come.
Plan a Moment Alone with Your Partner
The number one thing some of my couples regret! Amidst the excitement of the wedding day, many couples regret not taking a moment to pause and savor the magic together. Consider scheduling a first look or even a first touch before the ceremony. This intimate time allows you to connect and appreciate the significance of your commitment to each other in preparation for the joyous celebrations to come.

As your wedding photographer, I will prioritize capturing every significant moment of your day, as well as anything you specifically want me to. However, not having a detailed photo shot list can lead to overlooking key shots or special requests. That’s why it's so important to take the time to discuss your photography preferences and create a shot list that includes must-have photos such as family portraits, candid moments with guests, and creative shots of the venue and décor. By curating a thorough list, your photographer will be on task and capture every aspect of your wedding day that is important to you, constructing a comprehensive visual narrative of your love story.
